Documentation on HVAC Project

With its bright lights and crowds, a theater has intensive cooling needs. A new HVAC for the LeFevre Theater was long overdue. But the new system debuted to terrible reviews: it didn’t work.

There were multiple problems, such as heating coming on at the same time as cooling. To complicate matters, problems were only occurring sporadically, making diagnosis difficult.

Instead of taking things apart, video on demand as-builts were used to go back through the installation of the electronic controls step by step. Two problems were identified: the wrong type of wire was used, and there were several faulty connections.

The problem was now clarified, but the installing contractor didn’t know what to do to fix it, and time was of the essence. Video on demand was then used to explain the problem to other contractors and find one who was capable of fixing it.

The new subcontractor was able to use the video on demand as-builts to get up to speed on the problem, turn a bid around quickly and arrive at the job with the just the right materials and people needed to complete the repair.

Builder’s Eye documented the entire repair project, including the final programming of the controls. This footage became an instructional video for how to program the controls and resides in the video on demand archive for St. Mary’s maintenance department to access as needed.
